1. Hangzhou
Hangzhou casts an enchanting spell. Marco Polo marveled
that it was "the most beautiful and elegant place in
the world" and a popular Chinese saying boasts "above
there is heaven, below there is Hangzhou." The serene
loveliness of Hangzhou's West Lake (Xi Hu) and the surrounding
hills remain spellbinding. Millions of tourists visit every
year to admire Hangzhou's graceful willows, tranquil waters
and expansive gardens.

3. Nanjing
Sharing the honor of being one of the traditional "Four
Great Ancient Capitals of China" with Beijing, Luoyang
and Xi'an, Nanjing has a wealth of historical sights and attractions
to offer—primarily from its early Ming Dynasty heyday—as
well as the modern conveniences and emerging cosmopolitan
lifestyle of contemporary urban China. A major university
town, Nanjing is home to a large student population, including
many foreign students, and the city's youthful population
fuels a lively nightlife scene.

5.Huangshan Mountain
The craggy rock faces, hanging mists and clustered pines of
Huang Shan (the Yellow Mountains) create a lovely and distinctly
Chinese landscape, one instantly recognizable from countless
images on silk, paper and porcelain. The mountain range, consisting
of some 70 peaks over 1,000 m (3,300 ft), spills across the
southern province of Anhui in an exquisite jumble of scenic
highlights—twisted lone pines clinging to stony spires,
seas of clouds filling rugged valleys, and crystalline mountain
spring-fed pools.

6.Xitang old town
One of the finest of the water towns within easy day-trip
range of Shanghai, Xitang boasts a stock of Ming, Qing and
even Yuan Dynasty buildings that comprise some 60% of its
total architectural heritage. Willow-lined canals flow past
houses with whitewashed walls shaded by grey-slated roofs
and carved, curving wooden eaves. From the right vantage points,
the view isn't all that different from what Marco Polo might
have seen on his visits to this part of China.

Route:Lanzhou –Weiwu- Zhangye- Jiuquan- Dunhuang
This one-week trip will bring you to explore some once glorious
and still important stops in the Silk Road and experience
something exotic and totally fresh from what you have seen
and felt before in China.
Dunhuang, a desert town which is near the old Silk Road rewards
visitors with an astonishing archeological treasure carved
out of bedrock and cliffs: the Mogao Caves. The caves' Buddhist
paintings and artifacts are stunning and Dunhuang itself is
worth a stay for its relaxed oasis atmosphere. Historically
the last Chinese outpost on the Silk Road, Dunhuang has a
long history of taking care of weary travelers.
Dunhuang sits at the edge of the Gobi Desert at the juncture
of the western provinces of Gansu and Qinghai and the Xinjiang
autonomous region. Historically, the town prospered as a fertile
agricultural oasis (it's especially famous for its melons
and grapes) and as the country's westernmost military garrison
during the Han (202 BC-220 AD) and Tang (618-907 AD) dynasties.
Founded by Emperor Wudi of the Han Dynasty in 111 BC, Dunhuang
served as a base for soldiers watching over Silk Road caravans.
For centuries, Dunhuang was the last familiar stop for Chinese
traders heading west, sometimes even going as far as the Roman
Empire.
